The nominees for Prom King and Queen are:

Voting will take place the night of PROM.

PJ Hall has been selected to play Defensive End for the East Team in the 35th Annual San Antonio High School All-Star Football Game to be held Saturday, May 25. The game is broadcast live on the Texas Sports Radio Network and telecast by Time Warner Cable. The event is conducted by the Kids Sports Network with support from the Olmos Kiwanis Club. Proceeds benefit area youth charities.

Jostens will be on campus, Monday, April 22 to deliver Caps, Gowns and Invitations during both lunches, (11:30am-1:00pm) in the VC Commons Area. Balances need to be paid in full for delivery.

HOSA is very proud to announce that Ma’Leek Wright and Caston Casey placed 5th place in Career Health Display at the State competition. They worked very hard on their project and we are very proud of them. The HOSA Meeting scheduled for this Thursday has been cancelled. Next week on Friday April 26 we will be having Erin’s Dream Lanyards at 3:45 in room 2030. We will hold a short meeting at that time to vote on officer for 2013-2014 school year. Snacks will be served. Please make every effort to attend.

Group yearbook pictures for all groups, organizations and teams must be in the yearbook office no later than Tuesday, April 30. If you need the yearbook staff to take the pictures please email me with a date, time and place. You may email your photos to Mr. Hall or bring in the hard copy and he will scan them into the computer. Please line your students up and make sure they are not in the dark but in a brightly lit place.

Hurry to the Journalism Room (318) for information about senior ads. There are still a few pages available so see Mr. Hall or a yearbook student quickly.

If you were denied credit due to your attendance you may be able to regain your credit by attending teacher tutorials. Check your report card for credit denials or you may check with Mrs. Sanford or your counselor.

SENIORS GET YOUR FROG ON THE WALL in counselors office, bring in your acceptance letter. If you plan to join the military they can do that to. So see Ms. Mayo.

There is still time to purchase your 2013 yearbook while the price is only $55 so hurry by room 318 and see Mr. Hall or a yearbook student. You also may make a down payment of $25 and pay it off later.

The Lady Mats ended the regular season tied for 2nd place with Lockhart and the two teams will play each other today to decide who will have the number two seed. The game is at 6 p.m. here at our softball field. Everyone go out and cheer on the Lady Mats.

Students – are you interested in joining the Marines? Not sure what the Marines Corps has to offer? Join Sargent Joshua Gambill of the Marine Corps for an informational session about the Marines and their NROTC scholarship on Thursday, April 25. This presentation will take place in the Commons area from 3:40 PM – 4:30 PM. He is interested in speaking with 10th, 11th and 12th grade students. If you have any questions about the Marines, this will be your opportunity to ask.

All seniors are invited to write a senior will and turn it into the Signature Magazine staff for their senior edition that will come out in May. See the posters all around the school and come by room 318 to pick up a form. Please type them. You may email them to Mr. Hall or put them on a flash drive or bring them by and they will be scanned into the computer. Don’t miss this opportunity to leave a friend or favorite teacher advice or something wise or funny.

PJ Hall won both the discus and shot put at the Area Championships yesterday. PJ threw the discus 170 feet and 8 inches and the shot put 53 feet and 9.75 inches. PJ’s next competition will be at regionals at Hero Stadium in San Antonio on April 26-27. They are due April 26.

Renaissance Team of Sara Dibrell, Morgan Donsbach, Mariaelena Ramirez, Janelle Weinman and Nick Stephen who demonstrate extraordinary amounts of effort and preparation in their solutions and outstanding skill in engineering, design or performance won 1st Place: SHS & THE RENAISSANCE AWARD and qualified for the Global competition.

Attention Sophomores & Juniors:
If you are still interested in taking Dual Credit courses next year, you must provide all necessary paperwork and test scores to Mrs. Garza by Wednesday, April 17. Please stop by Mrs. Garza’s office if you have any questions OR if you are not sure that you qualify. Don’t Delay! Act now for the opportunity to participate in free college-credit courses.
