Summary of Summer Events 2010:
Leadership Academy (LA) at Camp Swift in Bastrop, TX: Begins on Monday, 7 June with graduation on Saturday, 12 June. We have ** cadets attending and their family and friends are invited to attend the graduation ceremony, which will be held at 10:30am at the camp. Basic Leadership Training (BLT) at Camp Swift in Bastrop, TX: Begins on Sunday, 13 June with graduation on Friday, 18 June at 10:30 am. Again, family and friends of attendees are welcome to attend the ceremony aboard Camp Swift in Bastrop. Leadership / Sailing Academy at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Chicago, Il. Cadets depart from San Antonio International Airport at 8:50am on 18 June and return on Saturday evening (9:45pm), 26 June. Seven cadets will attend with Gunny Thomas. Leadership Retreat (for returning senior class cadets); Begins with senior work day on Monday, 26 July (8am-2pm). Group will depart on Tue. 27 Jul at 8am for Naval Air Station Corpus Christi where they will stay at the Bachelor Officer Quarters (BOQ). The conference will take place at the Officers' Club aboard the base. On the final day, cadets and instructors will spend the day at sea aboard a party fishing vessel for 8 hours of deep sea fishing - which the unit calls "Sea Trials". The retreat concludes with another workday at the ROTC building on Friday from 9am-3pm. Platoon Commander/Assistant Platoon Commander School (PC/APC School) - By invitation only. Begins at 8am on Monday 2, Aug at the NJROTC Building and last until 2pm each day for the next three days (Aug, 2, 3, 4). Platoon commander assignments for the 2010/2011 school years will be made on the last day, base upon performance during the PC/APC school. Squad Leader School - 5 August - by invitation only One-day school for perspective squad leaders at NJROTC Building from 8am - 2 pm. NJROTC Fish Camp (Open to all first year cadets) Begins at 8am on 9 Aug and runs for three days (9, 10, 11). Cadets will receive introduction to extra-curricular teams and learn the daily routines of NJROTC classes. School ends at 2pm (after lunch). Cadets are to bring a sack lunch and dress for warm weather (shorts, T-shirt, Tennis shoes – no sandals, please).
Teams Camp (open to all cadets interested in being on the drill teams armed or unarmed) Begins 9 August from 8am - 2 pm and runs until school starts (24 August).
